Young freelance journalist gunned down in Kyrgyzstan

Some may think that freedom of the press is endangered in our countries... They're entitled to their opinions, considering how many newspapers have been taken over my major companies...

Yet what should we write about countries like Russia,Uzbekistan or Kyrgystan?

Alisher Sayipov, a young freelance journalist, had perhaps become the thorn twisting the sides of someone important from Uzbekistan. Indeed, he regularly condemned its president, Islam Karimov, something of a dictator, according to Sayipov.

Has M. Karimov taken some lessons from the Russian big brother?




We still don't know who shot down Anna Politkovskaïa, a very dedicated and "Tchetchenia-minded" journalist...
